Jeremy Strong stays in character until the bathroom.
The “Succession” actor was reportedly so taken with a joke asking for directions to the bathroom that he used his questionable Method acting techniques on another set.
Bowen Yang revealed ‘Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens’ star during his podcast ‘The Bodybuilders” that Strong visited the production office to ask where the bathroom was. A “Succession” personal assistant later clarified that Strong was practicing for a scene.
“The final season of ‘Nora From Queens’ was filmed in the same studio as this season of ‘Succession,'” said Yang. “The ‘Nora From Queens’ production office was very close to the ‘Succession’ stages and their production office, and as we know, Jeremy Strong is a Method actor. At one point, Jeremy walks into the ‘Nora From Queens’ production office and says, ‘Excuse me, do you know where the bathroom is?’ and then someone in the office says, “Yeah, it’s just down the hall on the left.” He says, ‘Thank you so much’ and walks away.
The “Saturday Night Live” breakout star continued, “So Jeremy leaves. Ten minutes go by and a[production assistant]from ‘Succession’ walks into the office and says, ‘Hi, was Jeremy just here?’ and they were like, “Yeah, he was-he went to the bathroom” and then this personal assistant was like, “He asked where was he?” He came here to ask where was the bathroom? They were like, ‘Yeah, why?’ and the personal assistant says, ‘Today he has a scene where he has to ask someone where the bathroom is.’”
Yang added, “I think it’s Method on such a ludicrous level that he must be in on the joke”, citing that there is “the idea that Jeremy Strong has a sense of play and irony”.
Brian Cox, Strong’s co-star in “Succession,” famously advised Strong to relax on Method acting practices, telling Town & Country earlier this year, “Strong’s got talent. He is fucking gifted. When you have the gift, he celebrates the gift. He goes back to your trailer and take a hit of weed, you know?
